Have you recently been feeling moody, emotional, or snappy? I know that I have been there. This week I wanted to dive deeper into what it looks like when our core needs are not being met and what it can lead to if we are not careful.

Core Needs Defined

So what are your core needs and what happens when they are not met?

The core needs that we each have are developed in childhood where we take on most of our beliefs and values. Oftentimes when we are not able to meet our core needs we can lead down a path of feeling moody, emotional, snappy, easily triggered, etc. There is most likely a need inside of you that is not being met and if nothing is done about it then you can be led to burnout.

Simple ways to check in

  1. What emotion am I feeling at this moment?
  2. Is there a need inside of me that is not being met to cause me to feel this way?
  3. What support can I seek in order to have my core needs met?
  4. How do I feel about the situation and circumstance after my need is met? Can I show up better for it?

These check in questions are available to you to use when you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, easily triggered, or emotional. After you answer these questions, seeking outside support is recommended as it can provide a new perspective and give you insight into areas of growth. Oftentimes, all it takes is a simple shift or action in order to create a tangible change in your feelings.

How I can support you

When working with me I can offer the following in order to support you in getting your core needs met:

  • Getting to the root of a situation
  • Explore healing methods that feel supportive
  • Neural retraining
  • New self care techniques

These different techniques that I will teach and guide you through are supportive for your overall health and wellbeing. We can decide to take a pause and show up for our bodies and minds in order to live out a healthier happier life. Caring for yourself and making sure your needs are met to avoid ending up in Burnout is a strong act of self care and I can help you get there.

A shift in getting your core needs met allows you to more effectively show up in not only your life, but the lives of others. I know that if you are a mother, a spouse, a caretaker, or full time employee, it can be such a challenge to pause and check in, especially when you feel like you are in it alone.

What's next?

All of the techniques I mentioned are for you and if you are wanting to take things deeper, working with a practitioner is highly recommended. Book a clarity call with me to find out how I can support you further in your journey!

As always, thank you for saving room for me in your inbox and I look forward to connecting with you further. If you don’t already, follow me on Instagram where I share posts about all things psychology, self-care, and neuroscience.

Sending love and wellbeing your way!
