How many of you have heard of the vagus nerve? And how many of you know that by caring for it, you can actually fight stress and fatigue? This week I wanted to dive into breaking down the vagus nerve and explaining why caring for it and your nervous system is so important and how I can help you get there.

Vagus Nerve Defined

So what is the vagus nerve system?

The vagus nerve system acts to counterbalance the fight or flight response in the body and trigger a relaxation response instead. Through stimulation of the vagus nerve, we can receive many health benefits. The vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in the body which controls your parasympathetic nervous system.

So what is the parasympathetic nervous system?

The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for the body’s rest and digest state, particularly when the body is relaxed, resting, or feeding. It serves to calm the body after a stressful situation and the sympathetic response has been triggered. The parasympathetic nervous system serves to regulate the body when in a calm state.

Benefits of working together and receiving vagus nerve support

  1. Teach you techniques to properly care for the body and vagus nerve- There are specific techniques that I will teach you in session to care for your body and more specifically the vagus nerve to help you get into the rest and digest state.
  2. Dive deeper into your health and get to the root-  It is vital to dive deeper into your health story in order to get to the root of any struggles and illness.
  3. Experience transformation in the mind and body through VNS support- With proper care and support, we build out a system of transformation that works for you and gives the body what it needs in order to experience a shift. Caring for the VNS can get you there faster.
  4. Support to let go of what no longer serves you- Through the journey, we examine what no longer is serving your body and build out a method that gets you to where you want to be.

We can choose to support our bodies and the vagus nerve in order to send a message to our body that it is time to relax as we give it deep care. Supporting ourselves in this way allows for long term improvements in mental health, pain management, and mood levels. This is within reach for you on your healing journey and sometimes all it takes is a system of support to get you there.

A noticeable level of stress, fatigue, or illness in the body is enough of a reason to give yourself that extra support and care your body is craving. All of the methods mentioned above can be done when you work with me.
